the heart for the books
“Bring … the books, especially the parchments,”[1] Paul told Timothy. Even at the end of his life, Paul’s desire was “to know Him.”[2] He wanted the word and the writings that revealed more of his Lord. Here on the podcast, we seek to bring you the “treasury of David”[3] – books, messages, and especially the scriptures that the Lord is using to build His church.
The wise and spiritually-broken preacher warned us in Ecclesiastes: “of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.”[4]There is no end of books, sermons, or podcasts—especially now. But not all are worth the time. Occasionally, we find books that bring much help in the Lord. Praise God; there are many such writings. The Lord is building His church and has given to us, throughout the ages, the supply we need. If you only get to read ten books, they should be these types of books. If you only have time for one audiobook a month, it should be this type of audiobook. When you have enough time to listen to a message, let it be a ministry of the word of Christ—not merely a sermon. These are the books and parchments that we hope to bring to you on this site.

How can I help?
Thank the Lord we’ve been able to work together with volunteers and a lot of labor of love. If you’re interested in helping in any area please join the weekly updates newsletter. It’s not the same as the podcast. From that newsletter you’ll know what we’re currently doing and details on how to pray.
Or email us at hello@booksandparchments.com
We’ve been asked by some how they can donate to help out. If you would like to send a love gift, you can mail a check to:
Books & Parchments
339 Halifax St.
Emporia, VA 23847
Or we also receive Zelle payments to hello@booksandparchments.com.
You can also make a donation directly through the website using the link below:

You can help by volunteering—
Another great way to help out is to join our volunteer team. We’re looking for book readers, reviewers, editors, transcribers, formatters, and fellowshippers (not sure if all of those are real words, and there are probably some other “ers” to add). If you’re close to Emporia we also have a bit of physical work to do and could use the help right now. Send an email to hello@booksandparchments.com if you’re interested in getting involved.
Have you found a treasure of a book or listened to a great ministry of the word? Please share it with us so we too can be encouraged. May the Lord encourage you and be encouraged by you.
